From download to a band, in four steps.

STEP 1

Install it, and paste your key.

Two minutes, and it is yours.

Download Adam Studio for Mac or Windows from the download page and open the installer. On a Mac it goes into Applications; on Windows, into the Start menu. If Windows shows a blue Windows protected your PC screen, press More info, then Run anyway: the installer is simply new to Windows.

Open it. Paste your licence key into the panel and press Activate, once, with the internet on. Your key arrives by email a minute or two after you buy, and it is always on your account page.

No key yet? Close the panel and play. The demo runs for ten minutes at a time with nothing held back.

STEP 2

Connect an AI.

This is the producer that writes your parts.

Press the gear ⚙ at the top right and open the AI tab. Pick Gemini, OpenAI or Claude (Claude is Anthropic’s), press Get a key to open that company’s key page, make a key there, and paste it into API key. Paste it in the wrong box and Adam notices and switches to the right company.

The key stays on your computer, locked: in the Mac’s Keychain (which is why a Mac asks for Touch ID or your password once), or encrypted to your Windows login. Adam adds no credits and no monthly fee: whatever the AI costs is between you and that company.

• OpenAIMake a key at platform.openai.com/api-keys. Expect to add about $5 of credit.
• ClaudeMake a key at platform.claude.com/settings/keys. No ongoing free tier; a new account may get a small trial credit.

Without a key, Adam still plays. CREATE then picks samples by their names and writes no parts of its own. The AI is what writes the drums, bass, chords and melody for you.

STEP 3

Point Adam at your samples.

Your own sounds become the band.

On the same AI tab, press Choose folder, pick the folder where your samples live (packs inside packs are fine), and press Analyze. Adam reads every file’s instrument, tempo, key, and whether it is a loop or a one-shot, and sorts it into eight instrument folders of its own.

Your files never move, and none of them is uploaded: only file names ever leave your computer. It runs in the background while you play. Do step 2 first: with a key, the scan also reads each sample’s genre and style.

STEP 4

Type an idea. Press CREATE.

One sentence in, eight players out.

Click the prompt bar at the top, where it says describe the track you want, and say it the way you would say it to a band: chill guitar house with a rap vocal. Press Create or Return.

The plan lands first, the tempo, the key and eight instruments, then each part starts playing the moment it is written. Every player has its own ▶ to start or stop it on the next bar, and its own fader.
